To celebrate their completion of their years in elementary school, the fifth graders have a party near the end of the school year. There is also a self-funded yearbook, and a legacy art project which is generally coordinated with a local artist and is also self-funded.
5th Grade Party – To celebrate their final year of elementary school, the 5th grade traditionally has a celebration that takes up a whole day of fun. In past years the party has taken place on the football field of the high school with bouncy houses and other fun activities, culminating in a barbecue back on the Byrom campus, a day at Bullwinkles Family Fun Center, and an Amazing Race event that pitted teams of 5th graders through tasks all over the Byrom grounds.
5th Grade Yearbook – To commemorate their elementary school years, the 5th graders generally get a yearbook with their school photos and pages full of memories and well wishes from the community. Often, the printing cost or other part of the yearbook costs is donated, and the rest is covered by ads or purchased well wishes from parents or other community members.
Legacy Project – The 5th graders for the last several years have created a lasting art project that is their gift to the school as a legacy gift.
