Staff Appreciation

Staff Appreciation is all about celebrating the incredible teachers and staff who make Byrom so special! Each year, we plan a week-long celebration in May filled with thoughtful surprises, meals, and treats to show our gratitude. Throughout the year, we also support staff with fun extras like coffee bar pop-ups, stocking the staff room, and other small acts of kindness. It’s a role where the chair gets to be creative and thoughtful in finding meaningful ways to say, “We appreciate you!”

PBIS

(Positive Behavior Incentive Support)
Children are encouraged with simple but fun rewards for their positive behavior.

A more in-depth description should be posted soon.

Community

Sometimes there are just little things that aren’t really covered anywhere else. Although there are several resources available through the school, the PSO helps out with many of them.

  • District Backpack program
  • Caring Closet
  • Healthroom Supplies (Those clean clothes your children come home in after slipping in the mud or some other accident have to come from somewhere.)
  • Workroom Supplies

After School Musical

We have a long relationship with the Missoula Children’s Theater. Each year they send two well-trained theater enthusiasts with a trailer full of scripts, costumes, and sets. Auditions are on Monday right after school. Rehearsals begin Monday, and continue through the week after school, with two perfomances on Saturday in the high school auditorium.

The plays are usually quirky musical renditions of a well-known story with many opportunities for 50-70 children to participate on stage. Past productions have included The Wizard of Oz, Treasure Island, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Cinderella.

Fifth Grade End of Year Events

To celebrate their completion of their years in elementary school, the fifth graders have a party near the end of the school year. There is also a self-funded yearbook, and a legacy art project which is generally coordinated with a local artist and is also self-funded.

5th Grade Party – To celebrate their final year of elementary school, the 5th grade traditionally has a celebration that takes up a whole day of fun. In past years the party has taken place on the football field of the high school with bouncy houses and other fun activities, culminating in a barbecue back on the Byrom campus, a day at Bullwinkles Family Fun Center, and an Amazing Race event that pitted teams of 5th graders through tasks all over the Byrom grounds.
5th Grade Yearbook – To commemorate their elementary school years, the 5th graders generally get a yearbook with their school photos and pages full of memories and well wishes from the community. Often, the printing cost or other part of the yearbook costs is donated, and the rest is covered by ads or purchased well wishes from parents or other community members.
Legacy Project – The 5th graders for the last several years have created a lasting art project that is their gift to the school as a legacy gift.

Family Nights

Family Nights at Byrom

Every year, the PSO plans a variety of Family Night events to bring our Byrom community together in fun, meaningful ways. These events are a chance for students, parents, teachers, and staff to connect outside the classroom and make lasting memories.

Here are some of the events we’ve hosted in the past:

Fall Festival at Lee Farms
Each fall, the PSO sponsors a free family outing at Lee Farms—just for Byrom! Families enjoy fall-themed activities, treats, and fun alongside teachers and staff. It’s one of our most-loved traditions!

STEM Night
We team up with OMSI, robotics teams, and other science partners to bring the world of STEM to life! This hands-on event lets families explore science, tech, engineering, and math together through exciting, interactive exhibits.

Bingo Night
A crowd favorite! Bingo Night is a relaxed and fun evening where families enjoy treats, prizes, and a lot of laughs. This free event is open to all—and yes, everyone wins something!

Stuffy Movie Night
Students come in their comfiest pajamas, bring a favorite stuffy, and settle in at Byrom for a cozy movie night with friends. It’s a sweet, simple evening that kids look forward to every year.

Blazer Night
Join fellow Byrom families and staff for a night of basketball fun! Discounted tickets make it easy to cheer on the Portland Trail Blazers together—and you might even spot a teacher or two in the stands!

Stay tuned for upcoming Family Night announcements—we’re always planning new ways to celebrate our incredible Byrom community!

Classroom Supplies

Teachers usually spend their own money on little things for the classroom – extra supplies, displays, educational tools. We reimburse each teacher up to $150 for these expenses.

Grade Level Enrichment

Field trips, assemblies, and classroom presentations from outside groups enrich the education experience for our children. The PSO covers a set amount per student for each grade to help pay for these events.

Educational Assistants

The biggest part of the PSO budget is the funding for educational assistants. This is the single item with the biggest impact on the school. Our principal is able to have directed help for the classroom and playground and she has complete direction and flexibility to use them where most needed. Not only do students who work directly with these assistants benefit, but all students benefit. More instructors in the school means each child gets more attention.

Auction 2014

TOTALLY 80’S BYROM BASH & AUCTION VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Procurement

This committee will follow up with all of the Byrom supporters that will be receiving the donation letter. These businesses have all donated in the past and are very excited about supporting our school. They will also solicit new business and pick up all donations which can then be delivered to either chair of the auction. This is one of the most important committees and the success of our event depends on these donations. The team needs about 10 members. The co chairs of the auction will also be involved in this task.

Sponsorships:

This committee will contact previous and potential cash sponsors. They will present the different levels and types of sponsorships and provide the information including logos, ads, and donations back to the co chairs. This committee would be perfect for 1 -2 people.

Classroom Baskets & Projects:

This team will contact the classroom parents for someone in each class to take over a basket or a project. They will provide these volunteers with deadlines for projects and basket items. They will also pick up or have delivered the donations. This committee should have between 2 -4 people.

Decorations:

This committee will provide our Totally 80s Byrom Bash with the decorations for the event. They will provide signs for each section and raffle. They will also be in charge of set up and tear down of the decorations.

Set-up (April 5th)

The set-up committee will help transport donations to the venue and help to set up silent, live, auction and general venue décor. This project will tentatively start at 8:00am the morning of the event. This committee needs 20 + people. We only have a short time for this and the more people that can commit the smoother the setup will go.

Wine Donation:

This committee will be in charge of obtaining our wine donations for the wine wall and guests of the event. A wine drive after school, local wineries, and wine distributors are a couple of places that have been successful in this task. It is our goal to keep our ticket prices down and provide our guest with beer and wine during the event.

Teacher Activities and Marque:

The person in charge of this opportunity will hold a meeting with the teachers and obtain the activities that they would like to offer their students in the silent auction. They will also follow up following the auction with each teacher or school employee providing them with the student or students that won each activity.

Any amount of time is greatly appreciated. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we need a lot of support to make it successful. Please contact us for more details regarding the many volunteer opportunities. Also like us on our facebook page Byrom Elementary Auction for exciting details about our upcoming event!
